Nature

Seascapes

Rise and fall—
waves, wind, gulls.

Steady and strong,
The cliffs,
My mind.

Tide pools shine clear,
Mirrors of the sky.
Fluttering butterflies-
The cherry on top

Jut out-
The purple and red flowers.
Houses, on the cliff rising from nothingness
The water pistons as waves crashes
Relentless,
yet somehow gentle.

It could not be-
More perfect, more gorgeous,
So I sit here.
Stupefied. Mesmerized

The souls warmed
From the empty canvas of mind
And the beauty

Few more minutes,
For these deep moments,
Of connection to the earth.

Just a few more minutes—
to feel connected,
to feel small,
to feel alive.

I’ve got to go-
Swirling tidal pools
Rocks, washed over and over
For I’ve had a fill of my senses

Funny—
once I would’ve called this
wasted time.

But now,
with weathered rocks,
a weathered face,
weathered hair,
and a weathered life—

I long to be
like Maine:
unassuming,
rugged,
beautiful.
